Complete Joyor Electric Scooter Error Codes & Diagnostic Guide (E01-E18)

5 min read

Welcome to the Joyor Official Technical Hub. This comprehensive diagnostic guide is designed for all Joyor electric scooter users (S Series, Y Series, T Series, C Series, etc.) to quickly identify, understand, and resolve LCD display error codes. If your scooter’s display shows an error code from E-01 to E-18, follow this guide to get back on the road safely.

1. Quick Diagnostic Process: Reading Your LCD Display #

When a malfunction occurs, the Joyor LCD display automatically switches to the error interface. The multi-function area will show a code starting with “E” (e.g., E-01). To properly diagnose the issue:

  • Stop the Scooter Safely: Step off the deck and manually hold the brakes to stop safely.

  • Read the Code: Note the exact error code displayed on the multi-function screen (e.g., E-06).

  • Check Basic Connections: Visually inspect the cables near the steering stem and front wheel for any loose or disconnected plugs.

  • Restart the System: Turn the scooter off, wait for 10 seconds, and turn it back on to see if the error clears. If it persists, refer to the detailed troubleshooting table below.

Safety First: Do not attempt to ride the scooter if it displays an error related to the brakes, throttle, or controller. Push the scooter manually to avoid further damage or safety hazards.

2. Joyor Error Codes & Solutions Table #

Below is the official list of Joyor error codes, their descriptions, and recommended actions. Note: Some codes (like E-11, E-13, E-18) apply only to dual-motor models (e.g., S10-S, T-Series Dual Motor).

Fault Code Description Troubleshooting & Solution
E-01 Rear motor Hall malfunction Indicates a rear motor sensor issue. Check the motor cable connections for water ingress or loose pins. If the connection is secure, professional diagnostics may be required.
E-02 Accelerator throttle malfunction The throttle fails to send signals. Inspect the throttle cable under the display. Do not force the lever. If restarting does not resolve it, the throttle assembly may need replacement.
E-03 Rear controller malfunction Internal fault in the rear controller. Turn off the scooter and let it cool down. If the error persists upon restart, contact official support for a controller diagnosis.
E-04 Brake malfunction Triggered during system self-check. Check if the brake levers are physically stuck or if the brake cut-off switches are jammed. Free any obstructions.
E-05 Controller undervoltage protection Battery voltage is too low. Fully charge the battery using the original Joyor charger. If the error occurs on a full charge, contact service for battery testing.
E-06 Communication malfunction (Display not receiving controller data) Wiring fault between display and main controller. Check the main communication harness for disconnections, bent pins, or water damage. Reconnect firmly.
E-07 Communication malfunction (Controller not receiving display data) Reverse communication fault. Ensure the display is properly seated and the wiring harness is not pinched during stem folding.
E-08 Motor stall protection (Rear) The rear motor is physically blocked or overworked. Check for debris stuck in the rear wheel or motor brake disc. Clear the obstruction and restart.
E-09 Temperature protection The controller or motor is overheating. Stop riding immediately. Park the scooter in a cool, shaded area and allow it to cool down for 30 minutes before resuming.
E-11 Front motor hall malfunction (Dual-motor models only) Sensor issue in the front motor. Inspect the front motor cable routing and pins. Contact technical support if unresolved.
E-13 Front controller malfunction (Dual-motor models only) Fault detected in the front drive controller. Check connections to the front controller box. Do not disassemble the sealed controller housing.
E-18 Motor stall protection (Front) The front motor is physically obstructed. Check the front wheel for foreign objects and ensure the wheel spins freely when lifted off the ground.
